At The Beach With Black Mariah and Dr. Sketchy

Saturday's session of Dr. Sketchy's was so much fun! Black Mariah had a great set and fabulous costumes.

Dr. Sketchy's is breaking for summer for the month of July, but will return in August. I'm really looking forward to it!



I'm not very good at life drawing, luckily there were coloring books and crayons, so I had fun. I did manage to break three (three!) crayons. I don't understand. When I was a kid, I was pretty uptight about keeping my crayons pristine. I was embarrassed.



I can't say enough sweet stuff about this lady, FreeLisa, who is an amazing graphic artist, painter, screen printer and the woman responsible for bringing Dr. Sketchy's to Dallas. I am so proud of all her hard work, she is really an inspiration!



This was my favorite outfit of the day. I wish you could have seen the pasties, folks. Sheer genius. Just look at that beautiful smile! How could you not love her!?

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

With Thanksgiving coming later this year, what's the harm in beginning to think about Christmas cheer and the holidays? At least as a native Texan, I've learned to really appreciate the colder days during the holiday season, because you never know if you will have a 75 degree Christmas (man, that drives me nuts).

I always enjoy making gifts for friends and family, but even if you can't craft to save your life, you can still find presents that are completely one-of-a-kind on Etsy. Enter just about anything into the search bar, you'd be surprised what you can find.

My good friend Lisa has a shop on Etsy featuring her completely soft and scrumptious organic cotton tees. Each are screen printed with her unique designs.

I've Got Your Weekend All Planned

On Friday you're going to the Design on Dragon Artist Walk, but more specifically to Artizen Fine Arts. My dear friend Lisa will be featured along with other local and national artists. You can wander through dozens of galleries and there will be food and a raffle with proceeds benefiting Scottish Rite Hospital "Big Thought" program.



And of course the first Saturday of the month means you can catch the The Velvet Kittens of Le Cabaret Burlesque at Cafe Rembrandt's Dutch Pub at 10 p.m. for their show. Of course you'll want to eat, drink and be merry so I suggest the meatballs in peanut sauce and make sure to try some french fries with curried ketchup. Accompany all of that with an ice-cold Blanches des Bruxelles draft and thank me later, Tiger.
