Dia de los Muertos is this week, so I thought I would share with you one of my favorite embroidery projects. Again, these are transfers from Sublime Stitching .



I have been thinking of my grandmother a lot this week, but I keep this banner up all year. It's a symbol of momento mori for me, and it helps put things in perspective.

It's easy to get frustrated with the daily grind, but if you stop an think about it, it's really amazing to be alive, we're only here for a short while, so we better enjoy it!

Although, these skeletons look like they're not letting mortality get in their way of having a pretty damn good time!

Jenny Hart and Sublime Stitching

Sure embroidery might seem like a stuffy hobby, but I beg to differ. Especially when you have people like Austin-based artist Jenny Hart
and her company, Sublime Stitching .

She has revolutionized the once dainty practice of needle work with her quirky transfers. and now women(and men) are picking up needles and thread every where (myself included).

Here's one of her amazing portraits. La Llorona is a figure from Mexican folklore. I can stare at this piece for hours.


And here's a picture of a pillow case that I made for a special someone last year. All the designs came from Jenny Hart.
